From September 15 thru 24 savor true Neapolitan and Roman pizza with the acclaimed Neapolitan pizzaiolo, Roberto Caporuscio, of New York’ s KESTÉ PIZZERIA AND VINO. Join Roberto and Italian wine and food authorities Michele and Charles Scicolone, authors of Pizza Any Way You Slice It, for this unique culinary tour.
Our small group will meet at the Rome airport and travel by private motorcoach to some of Roberto’s favorite sites. We will stay in the beachside resort town of Sperlonga and visit mozzarella producers, gelato makers, bakeries, wineries, and of course, pizzerias. In between, we will stop at a chocolate museum and some of the area’s top restaurants. Roberto will give us a hands-on pizza making class, while Michele demonstrates some recipes typical of the region and Charles speaks about wines to go with pizza. There also will be time to relax at the seaside.
Then it is off to Naples where we will eat true Neapolitan pizza, visit an artisanal flour manufacturer, and savor the famous sfogliatelle pastries. Next stop is Rome where you will have a chance to try Roman style pizza, enjoy a meal at typical Roman trattoria and take a walking tour with Charles and Michele of some of their favorite gelaterias, caffes and bakeries.
